PANABO CITY – More than 150 faculty researchers and academic leaders from State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) across the Davao Region participated in SCOPUS-Ready: A Regional Writeshop on Research Publication and Global University Rankings, held on February 23–24, 2026, at the World Palace Hotel in Davao City.
Organized by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) Region XI, the two-day writeshop aimed to strengthen research publication capacity, enhance global visibility, and improve the international ranking readiness of SUCs in the region.
Participating institutions included Davao del Sur State College (DSSC), Davao de Oro State College (DDOSC), Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), Davao Oriental State University (DORSU), Southern Philippines Agri-business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST), and University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP).
The writeshop focused on equipping faculty researchers to publish in Scopus-indexed journals, strengthening author and institutional profiles through proper citation management, and orienting SUCs on the key indicators used in major global university ranking systems. It also guided institutions in setting realistic publication and citation targets aligned with regional and national research agendas while promoting a collaborative approach to increasing Scopus-indexed outputs across the Davao Region.
Resource speakers included Dr. Eliseo L. Prisno II, Dr. Jerico B. Ogaya, and Dr. Christian Joseph Ong.
Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, PASUC XI Chair and DNSC President, emphasized that the training goes beyond increasing the number of Scopus-indexed publications. “While global visibility and international ranking readiness matter, our deeper goal is to elevate the quality, relevance, and impact of the knowledge we produce for the communities we serve,” she said.
“Research must not only be publishable; it must be purposeful, addressing real needs, inspiring innovation, and strengthening our role as institutions committed to public service and nation-building,” she added.
