All rules MUST be read and understood by each & every player BEFORE game time. The signing of the group representatives concerned will serve as a constructive notice that all players read and understood such.
1. The tournament committee makes all final decisions concerning all grievances, i.e. protests, eligibility, etc. With such, the decision rendered will be final and irrevocable and shall not be appealable.
2. Competition will be in a single elimination format, whereby a team that loses a game shall be automatically eliminated from the tournament, this single elimination shall be governed by the following rules:
a. The winning team shall advance to the next round until only two teams remain for the Championship game.
b. In case of a tie at the end of regulation, a toss coin will be done as a tiebreaker.
c. The tournament bracket shall be determined by drawing of lots by the representative or team captain of each group designated.
d. The Champion shall be the winner of the final game, and the Runner up shall be the losing team in the final game, a battle for 3rd Place may be held between the semi-final losers.
3. If you will play, it is understood that you have approval. Basketball is a highly physical sports, ALL players are advised to play at their own risk. The Committee, College and its Management will NOT be held accountable and liable to any accidents or similar to it. With this, the representative signing on behalf of each group will serve as a mode of publication as deemed warranted in the rules provided therein.
4. Roster must be submitted to the tournament committee before the first game. No adding or deleting after the second game.
5. A team will be charged with a forfeit if it uses an ineligible player that is not on the roster. The Team Manager/Captain is responsible for ensuring the eligibility & signatures of all players on the team.
6. Team captains/managers are the voice of their team and are responsible for their team’s conduct. If any player or spectator appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the tournament committee/game officials have the right to expel them from any game and/or tournament and bar him from the gyms. This rule will be strictly enforced.
7. Game Time & Time Outs:
- Games time = 48 minutes, divided into halves of 24 minutes each.
- Time out = 3-time outs per game. The clock will be stopped for time outs, which will be one minute in duration. Half time will be five minutes long.
- Time will run continuously throughout, except for the last two minutes of the second half. During the final two minutes of the second half, the clock will be stopped for all fouls and ball out situations.
- Each game will start with a jump ball at center court. Each possession thereafter will be alternated. The official scorekeeper will keep track of the possession arrow.
- Teams will be allowed 5 team fouls before entering the bonus situations (1 and 1 rule).
10. Game time is forfeit time! (A 10 minute grace period will be given).
11. Official scorekeeper must be notified before a substitution can be made, which will be allowed
on all dead ball situations.
12. Players wearing glasses are advised to wear a protector or have shatterproof lenses.
13. Removable jewelry may not be worn during the game, nor hats or headgear that hangs below the collar (officials’ discretion). All players must wear gym shoes and matching colored Tshirts/jerseys with number when playing.
14. A technical foul will be assessed if the player’s numbers are not visible to the officials (referee &
scoring officials).
15. A three point shot rule is in effect. On the line does not count as a three pointer.
16. A player who commits two flagrant/technical fouls will be suspended from the tournament.
17. Fighting by any individual (either on or off the court) will expel or eject the individuals or any person involved being from the game and gymnasium; and altercation from any team member from the previously penalized team(s) will result in that team’s removal from the tournament.
24. The officials will only refer to the official scorekeepers and timekeepers of the game at hand.
25. Scorekeepers, timekeepers and/or officials are allowed to give out technical fouls for any
taunting or foul language by members of the team or their respective spectators.
27. Calling any of the officials, timekeepers, scorekeepers, or any member of the basketball
committee insulting names will not be tolerated and will result in a technical foul.
