PANABO CITY — Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), through the Quality Assurance Office (QAO), conducted an Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Training on July 4, 2025, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR). The activity gathered DNSC’s Internal Quality Auditors for a refresher session anchored on the principles of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS).

Serving as the resource person was IQA Lead Joena Marie A. Martinez, who discussed key topics such as ISO clause identification, proper use of audit forms, the conduct of audits, the Quality Objective Tracker (QOT) and Risk and Opportunity Matrix (ROM), and audit assignments. The session was designed to realign auditors with their roles in upholding DNSC’s internal quality standards.

In his delivery of the opening remarks on behalf of Dr. Ma. Melanie N. Edig, Director for Quality Assurance, Mr. Jomarie Dave Java mentioned the importance of the training as part of the College’s continuing quality journey. “It has been our longstanding practice to hold this activity a week or so before the actual conduct of the internal audit. It is our way of refreshing and realigning ourselves with the responsibilities as internal auditors,” he stated.

The College first embarked on its ISO journey during Academic Year 2016–2017, and the recent session marked the 8th IQA training conducted since then. “This retraining is designed to help reinforce your understanding of ISO principles and clauses. Let us use this opportunity to revisit key concepts, understand better the directions of the standard, and further strengthen our collective commitment to quality,” Java added.

The speech also paid tribute to the College’s internal auditors, both new and seasoned, whose commitment has supported DNSC in building and maintaining an effective quality management system, “Over the years, internal quality auditors have come and gone. Some stayed for a time, some longer, and a dedicated few have remained. To those who have continued to believe in the importance of this work, I salute you. Your dedication has played a vital role in shaping what DNSC has become today in terms of our established quality management system.”
