PANABO CITY – Maco de Oro College (MDCO) conducted a benchmarking activity with Davao del Norte State College (DNSC) at the GAD Conference Room on September 8, 2025, in preparation for the opening of two new programs: the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and the Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BAComm).
Representing MDOC were College President Anthony Pol P. Fulache, Vice President for Academic Affairs Bonita May C. Valera, instructors Amethyst B. Briones, Bhen Zar Sawer, Kiervin Engay, and Joyce R. Moldez, and administrative assistant Patrick John Vasquez. DNSC was represented by College President Joy M. Sorrosa, Institute of Teacher Education Dean Arnold M. Duping, Institute of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Good Governance Dean Florie Ann L. Fermil, and faculty members Carl Daniel Ganal, Saimehen Lloid Iluis, Jezreyll James Cabasag, Kimberly Sulla, and Jerome Llevado.
Presentations were delivered by the BAComm and BSSW program chairs, covering key areas such as faculty profiles, curriculum and instruction, research and extension, laboratories, student organizations and awards, and academic certifications. An open forum followed, where MDOC officials raised questions on curriculum design, laboratory facilities, and policies on student organization fees.
In his message, Dr. Fulache expressed gratitude for the insights gained. “We are very happy because we learned a lot, especially as we are applying for BSSW and BAComm. It is challenging since we are still starting, but through this activity, we discovered practices that we can adopt in our school,” he said. He added that since MDOC has only been operating for six years, collaborating with DNSC would be invaluable in guiding its growth.
