
PANABO CITY — Davao del Norte State College (DNSC), through the Planning and Resource Management Office, conducted its Yearend Planning for 2025 from December 10 to 12, 2025, in Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
The activity invited members of the College Management Team and selected Office Heads to review institutional performance and set priorities for the coming year. A key component of the activity was the President’s Report delivered by College President Joy M. Sorrosa.
In her report, she presented the major challenges encountered by the College, including limitations in the Free Higher Education Fund, the growing number of personnel, changes in the higher education landscape, budget utilization concerns, faculty profile enhancement, the publication of the institutional journals Mindanao Affairs and Mindanao Review, compliance with universityhood requirements, and overall institutional sustainability.
The report also outlined DNSC’s achievements for 2025, including its performance in international and regional benchmarks such as Webometrics, AppliedHE, and UI GreenMetric. DNSC was likewise cited for international engagements, including the nomination of the Sapnay Program as a finalist in the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards and participation in international film competitions.
The President also commended the Deans for the College’s performance in various licensure examinations, marked by the production of topnotchers. At the national and regional levels, DNSC garnered multiple recognitions, including its distinction as a High-Performing Teacher Education Institution during the EQUATE Awards, Outstanding Academe Contribution to Tourism Award for Taklobo Tours, Inclusive Innovation Award at REnewergy 2025, Best Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Award for the DNSC Job Placement Office, Gawad Pag-asa Award to DNSC–DNLI, the 2nd Highest Total Gender and Development (GAD) Budget Expenditure, Most Outstanding Academic Stakeholder Award from PSA–Davao del Norte, the Biodiversity Leaf Award for Giant Clam Conservation, and the attainment of ISO Certification.
Student achievements were highlighted, reflecting DNSC’s commitment to holistic student development. These included being named 2nd Most Outspoken and Most Socially Aware Team during the P2A International Cultural Heritage Exhibition Week, 2nd Place in the Provincial Philippine Statistics Quiz Bee, Overall Champion in the Fisheries Technical Events during the Student Regional Convention, Regional Champion in the Young Farmers Challenge 2025 for BS Entrepreneurship students, and the Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools Sports and Sociocultural Competition’s ranking as 10th in Mindanao and 1st in the Davao Region.
The report further noted DNSC’s compliance with quality assurance standards, with all undergraduate and graduate programs granted accreditation and Certificates of Program Compliance, except for one program currently undergoing compliance. DNSC was also authorized by the Bureau of Immigration to offer 16 academic programs to foreign students.
Other updates included the successful hosting of the SETBI and DSFC Research Conferences and the filing of a House Bill proposing the establishment of DNSC campuses in Asuncion and Talaingod, as well as the conversion of DNSC into a state university.
This report was followed by presentations from delivery unit heads, who reported their 2025 accomplishments and presented plans and priorities aligned with the College’s strategic directions.
