PANABO CITY – Students of Davao del Norte State College’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program were among the examinees of the 6th Test of Practical Competency in Information and Communications Technology (TOPCIT) Philippines 2022, last August 5, 2022. Gerald Macasaet (Rank 7), John Albert Balansag (Rank 8,) and Rommel A. Canoy (Rank 9) were part of the Top 10 examinees in Davao region.

TOPCIT is a performance-evaluation-centered test that was  developed by the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning (MSIP) and the Institute for Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP). The College was also one of five higher education institutions in the region that was tapped by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to serve as TOPCIT exam centers. Institute of Computing Dean Mark Van M. Buladaco was designated as DNSC TOPCIT administrator.

The Commission on Higher Education Region XI recognized the top examinees last October 26, 2022 at the CHED RO XI Office, Obrero, Davao City. The recognition was a product of the College’s continuous strengthening of its programs, including the IT education. DNSC hopes to contribute to a SMARTer Philippines by honing and producing competent IT professionals.
