PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College welcomed representatives from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on November 14, 2023, facilitating a visit for the purpose of testing and inspecting access points associated with the Free Wi-Fi initiative.

With the emergence of flexible learning as a modality of instruction, DICT has proactively engaged with educational institutions to enhance internet accessibility for teachers and learners. The free Wi-Fi access points in the college are in the DNSC Covered Court, Science Building, and IC Student Shed. According to the official website of DICT, there are already more than 8,900 active free Wi-Fi sites nationwide.

The primary aim of the initiative is to provide Filipinos “access to opportunities, education, and information, and the ability to participate in the growing digital economy through free internet in public spaces.” DICT’s counterpart in DNSC is the Technology Support Services Unit (TSSU).
