PANABO CITY – In accordance with its goals of digitalizing processes, improving ease of transactions, and creating a SMART campus, Davao del Norte State College formed a team of programmers that would focus on the in-house development of systems. First of its many outputs is the activation of the College’s Procurement Management System (PMS).

The system was already utilized last year for the creation of the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP) and was revamped this year to accommodate additional features and conditions that need to be met after the first year of implementation. The Office of the Vice President of Administration and Finance (OVPAF), in partnership with the Technology Support Services Unit (TSSU) and Finance Services Division (FSD), conducted a Training and Workshop for PPMP Making using the Revamped System last September 23, 2022. The developers, who are graduates of the College’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program, gave an orientation on the navigation of the system.

VPAF Reir Erlinda E. Cutad emphasized that the system is the first of many intended outputs to usher the College’s transition into a SMART campus. The choice to initiate an in-house development of systems was made to tailor fit the outputs to the needs and processes of the College, as well as to easily modify if the need arises.

With the activation of PMS, fund managers can now create their PPMPs and purchase requests online. They can also trace the progress of their requests, while the approving officials can give feedback and notes to the fund managers. The system simplifies the long and tedious process of procurement and has made the process accessible everywhere. It is a cost-saving alternative to the printing of hard copies of PPMPs for approval. It is also vital in procurement monitoring and reports generation that can help the college’s management team in decision-making.
