PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College’s Institute of Advanced Studies (IAdS), represented by Dean Nickel Jean S. Lagare and with the active support of the academic unit and graduate school program chairs, engaged in a productive meeting with Dr. Arthur Bos, a professor in Marine Biology and Ecology at The American University in Cairo (AUC).
The meeting was held on January 12, 2024, at the DNSC Hostel Conference Room. One of the highlights of the discussion was the proposed loading of Dr. Bos as a visiting professor in DNSC. It was suggested that he could contribute his expertise by teaching Coral Reef Ecology (MB 604) during the second semester of the academic year 2023-2024 under the Master of Science in Marine Biodiversity Program (MSMB).
Dr. Bos also expressed enthusiasm about the potential of an event or talk, to be organized by the Marine Biology Student Organization, where he could share his insights, drawing from his extensive experience in both research and the academe.
Dean Lagare presented several policies and teaching practices of DNSC, such as the schedule of teaching sessions, implementation of flexible learning modality, conduct of fieldwork, and faculty requirements for visiting professors.
The presence of visiting professors is valued in DNSC to let students and faculty members learn from diverse perspectives and experience globalization in the education sector.
