PANABO CITY – Dr. Joy M. Sorrosa, president of Davao del Norte State College, was among the selected higher education leaders to contribute as panelist in the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net) University Presidents Forum (UPF) 2022. The forum was held in UTM, Kuala Lumpur campus, Malaysia, last November 1 – 3, 2022.

Dignitaries and officials from the member schools of the ATU-Net convened for various sessions. The main theme was, “Reshaping Ideas and Practices in International Higher Education: Towards Sustainable Development for the World and Humanity”. Dr. Sorrosa delivered a presentation on how DNSC is helping attain global ambitions, specifically the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by providing local solutions. She also emphasized that DNSC is committed to grow and become competitive, while equally prioritizing its works in the margins and in underprivileged communities.

Dr. Sorrosa highlighted the following initiatives of the College; education behind bars as a re-entering path for persons deprived of liberties, adult education and lifelong learning, inclusive education for the Indigenous Cultural Communities (ICCs), and a community-based eco-tourism and livelihood project in the coast.
