PANABO CITY – Davao del Norte State College participated in the third quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) for the calendar year of 2023 on September 7. The quarterly activity was facilitated by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Through Memorandum No. 64, series of 2023, released by the Office of the College President, all personnel and clienteles within the campus premises were advised to perform basic earthquake protocol, such as, duck, cover, and hold. Evacuation areas and routes were also utilized during the drill. The activity was facilitated by the Disaster Resilience and Administration Committee (DRAC).
Members of the College Emergency Response and Medical Services team were also called to action when simulation of the rescue of casualties were activated. Selected students from various areas around the campus acted with injuries to ensure the preparedness of the rescue team when a real disaster hits. The alarm system around the campus was also assessed. The DNSC administration continues to support the initiatives of the national government on disaster preparedness as part of its commitment to prioritize the well-being of its stakeholders.
