PANABO CITY – Three teams from Davao del Norte State College made it to the Top Ten of UNIPLAT Pitch Deck, a nationwide research and business competition that encourages and supports change-makers and young entrepreneurs. The competition was open to all higher education institutions (HEIs) and the judges were company executives and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) experts from around the world. The announcement of winners was made last September 22, 2022 via Zoom.

Kristine Klaire Ardou (Bachelor of Science in Information Technology student), Jude Gumatay (BSIT), Love Grace Jadraque (Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship student), and Jorald Adriano (BS Entrep) ranked third overall. They were mentored by BS Entrep Program Chair Joena Marie Agod. The team which earned the 4th spot was also from DNSC. The team was composed of Jonalyn Rose Celocia (BSIT), Jhun Bart Macirin (BSIT), Dorothy Kaye Poster (BS Entrep), Arvinlex Latoreno (BS Entrep), and their mentor, Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) faculty member, Mr. Jovito Bolacoy Jr.

Rafael Chatto (BSIT), Gerald Macasaet (BSIT), Rhea Mae Inso (BS Entrep), and Kyle Patrick Valdez (BS Entrep), together with their mentor, Mr. Jovanne Alejandrino (BSIS faculty member), finished tenth overall in the competition. The College’s delegation was led by Institute of Computing Dean Mark Van Buladaco. The winners received cash prizes and other freebies.

The College was just recently awarded as the region’s SDG champion. The awards garnered by the students manifest the commitment of the College in continuing its efforts in leading sustainability efforts for the people and the planet.
