PANABO CITY – Selected faculty members, staff, and graduate students from Davao del Norte State College’s Marine Biology Department attended the three-day Basic Molecular Training facilitated by the Philippine Genome Center Mindanao, on November 9-11, 2023. The center was in the College of Science and Mathematics, University of the Philippines Mindanao.

The training started with a lecture on the Principles of Molecular Biology and Genomics, followed by hands-on training on DNA Extraction, DNA Quantification, Gene Amplification via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Agarose Gel Electrophoresis (AGE), and Purification of PCR Product.

The participants were able to give their impressions and insights after the training. They were also given access to kits and reagents, personal protective equipment, lecture slides, and training modules by the laboratory staff.

Aside from academic enrichment, the training holds practical importance in driving medical advancements and scientific innovations that could benefit communities.
