PANABO CITY – In support of the worldwide celebration of Father’s Day, Davao del Norte State College set up the “Araw ng mga Tatay: Pagpupugay sa ating mga Ama” on June 14, 2024, at the DNSC Audio-visual Room (AVR).

The activity was a product of the collaborative efforts of the Security Services Unit (SSU), Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System, General Administrative Support Services Organization (GASSO), Faculty Association (FA), DNSC Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (DNSCEMPC), and the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance (OVPAF).

Mr. Roland Alonzo Dalagan served as the resource speaker for the event, focusing on the evolving roles of fathers towards their children and husbands towards their wives. The discussion aimed to foster appreciation for the responsibilities and efforts of fathers and father figures.

“E guide ug tama ang mga anak, hisgutan ilang mga problema ug bonding sa pamilya. Spend time gyud sa pamilya. Kung naa ka sa kasuko, pakumbaba gyud, mao na’ng importante. Mga problema’ng gagmay, dapat masulbad. Dili na padak-on, mangayo na lang ug sorry para di na mudako (Guide the children the right way, discuss their problems, and build a strong family bond. Spending quality time with your family is crucial. When misunderstandings arise, humility is key. Small problems should be resolved quickly and not allowed to escalate; sometimes, a simple apology can prevent a minor issue from becoming a major one),” Mr. Robinson Bangoy, a father of two, shared in an interview about his takeaways from the presentation.

Another participant, Mr. Neil Mark Alcover, a father of one, shared his insight: “Manage our emotions pag naa sa kalagot. Pag acknowledge ug dapat mapasalamaton pod sa sacrifices sa wife (We need to manage our emotions, especially when we are angry. We should also acknowledge and be grateful for the sacrifices our wives make).”
